Lamott

I took away that everyone writes bad first drafts. If it wasn't for having a bad first draft then people would never make good second and third draft. Learning from your own mistakes is one of the most important things you can do, in both writing and in life.

I liked how she kept the reading light and funny. It kept me interested throughout the entire article while also informing me.

It was kind of hard to take Lamott serious at points in the reading however, she made comments like "Mr. Poppy Pants", you can be comical without being immature.

I took away that reading is an activity that is not only something fun to do, but its educational and is good for an imaginative mind. King also talks about telepathy and using great detail to put a picture in your mind. He uses the example of a rabbit in a cage to put an image in the readers mind. although what each reader pictures will be different depending on how they interpret what they just read

I liked how he used telepathy to put an image in my head. I really did have a vivid image of a rabbit in a cage in my head. So telepathy is truly effective.

Im not a fan of reading so in the beginning I really couldn't relate with what he was saying when he was talking about bringing a book every where he went.

Writing is a process. Not everything you write is going to be perfect or amazing, but writing is something that takes time to become good at. He "wasted" five years writing and writing but nothing good came as a result. He took a break, came back to writing, and his dream novel came to him.

I liked how he explains how working too hard can sometimes hurt the someones growth process in a certain skill. I have experienced working to hard for something, so this related to me quite well.

I didn't like how he came about as whining and complaining. I found it somewhat annoying, but he conveyed his message well.
